Shortlisted for An Ivors classical award!

So chuffed that mine and Matthew Welton’s 30-minute song-cycle Crow rotations has been shortlisted for an Ivors Classical award in the small chamber category. Here is an excerpt from the piece; the fourth song (of eight).

The piece is performed by Juliet Fraser (voice), Kathryn Williams (flute), Carl Raven (saxophone), Steph Tress (cello), and I’m performing the electronics. It feels especially meaningful to be shortlisted for this, as it’s is the first completely new piece Matt and I have made together in years, and is a substantial new work performed by friends and family.

The piece was commissioned by the Royal Northern College of Music’s Centre for Practice and Research in Science and Music (PRiSM), supported by The Vaughan Williams Foundation, and recorded by the BBC (thank you BBC for permitting this excerpt).
